Effect of Sub-energy Windows’ Parameters on the Triple Energy Window Scatter Correction Method Accuracy in 99mTc SPECT Imaging

Scatter correction in SPECT quantification is of major importance to compensation for the scatter contribution under photopeak. The triple energy windows method (TEW) one suggested ways that are widely used clinical routine. However, it can be a source additional noise if width or number sub-energy not accurately chosen. To determine precise estimation settings 99m Tc photopeak, fraction was calculated different widths and numbers through GATE Monte Carlo simulation, main window 15 %, centered at 140 keV. Four acquisitions, with cold hot inserts warm background, were studied. done by two methods. first extraction detected Compton photons therefore considered as true scattered photons. second application TEW simulated spectra. comparison results corresponding both methods shows good agreement cases: simultaneous 7 % 5 windows, respectively, positioned on left right window, case 3 without window.
